Groundwork Coffee Venice Signature Blend in Review "With a Maduro Cigar Brunch"

“Have you Kaplowitz’d to-day?”

groundwork Coffee
Venice Signature Blend
Certified Organic | 100% Arabica

BREW METHOD: French Press
INTENSITY: Medium-Full

Hardwood | Dark chocolate | Fruit

Charred hardwood nose, a bit of dark then lightening fruitiness. Sips to more char than the aroma lets on & it lets on a good bit. Some tar which yields to eventual crisp-clean. Black peppercorn. Then dark chocolate shaving, waxily-so. Fruit jerky? Raisins, prunes. Undertones are wet stone minerality, stiff leather, roasty-toasty saltiness.  Nethers are dried compost piles, piled high. Airily... marshmallow fluff? It's on the surprisingly sweet-evolving finish. Not complex per see, but transitions nicely & has moderate depths.

Becomes sweeter, juicier via progression but retains a charred/mineral tandem. Also an enjoyable smoky layer. Nicely balanced. The more you drink the more you wanna drink. Drinkable af, I daresay. Hits the Goldilocks zone of a dark roast spectrum. Blended to please many a palate & disappoint or awe a scant few. Un-daring and somewhat wet-(summer quilt)blanket as structure fails in the fading hardwood cooling cup. Would be quite nice with a maduro cigar brunch. Nice everyday brew.
