Hardwood | Ripe fruits | Tobacco

Juicy & crisp w/ a neat-O smoky attachment thru-out. Bright but also well-toasty. Quite wooden, mainly an oaken wine cask sorta thing, scorched. A bit of orange zest is there, complex. The smoky tendencies find some tobacco leaves laying over-top composted earth. Fruits are dark and dried, slightly candied. Finishes noticeably brighter than it sips, a bit of a sweet lemony tea. Whisks away cleanly but not abruptly-so.

That composted earth, it dips down to the middlings where undertones of anise seed, dark chocolate shavings, thin molasses exist. Dark notes, delivered brighter than expected. As the cup cools, the oak portion seems to resurrect all the way back to tree-form, lively & full of life. Cool trick. The bouquet here is a tick lackluster, lending not much more than cereal grains to the olfactory experience.

All told, excellently complex & dazzlingly if not-quite deeply 'nuff nuanced... a half-bit fleeting. Somewhat astringent at times. Smooth & smoothly balanced. Well-fleshed out for being scant in flesh, proper (savoriness). Prune delineates itself late in the cup, chocolate rises with it. ::: very ::: transitional. Not excitable, but rather calmly exciting. A well-directed edge-of-your-seat performance.
